As with skis, the changes with Atomic race bindings are minimal. The 2020/2021 Atomic X12, X16, and X19 race bindings are exactly the same as the 2019/2020 models, with no graphic change. These bindings are designed specifically for use on Atomic race skis, and they will fit any adult model race ski with a pre-drilled Atomic race pate.
The Atomic X12 VAR is a good choice for first-time adult ski users, or anyone skiing at a DIN of less than 10. In the X16, Atomic makes two models - the X16 VAR and the X16 MOD. The VAR version tends to be a bit more forgiving, while the MOD binding will make skis ski a bit stiffer. We recommend the X16 for anyone skiing at a DIN of 10 or higher. Rounding out the lineup is the Atomic X19 MOD. This is the top-of-the-line race binding meant for the most aggressive skiers out there.
When it comes to Atomic junior race bindings, the 2020/2021 models feature the same construction but come with new branding and graphics. The former Atomic NZ10 and NZ12 junior race bindings are now called the Colt 10 and Colt 12. These bindings are meant for use on Atomic junior race skis with the pre-drilled Atomic junior race plate. We recommend the Colt 10 for junior racers skiing at a DIN of 4 or higher. The Colt 12 is best for junior racers with a DIN of 5 or higher.
