The biggest news from Dynastar’s race department for the 2020/2021 season is that the skis are once again in the U.S. Ski Team race pool, giving the company an opportunity to get back under the feet of America’s fastest racers. While the construction of the 2020/2021 Dynastar race skis is not changing, the graphics sure are, and we like them a lot.
On the junior side of things, Dynastar offers the Speed Omeglass Team SL Jr. and the Dynastar Speed Course Team GS Jr. Both the slalom and giant slalom junior models come with a two-piece plate that allows for the ski to flex easier throughout the turn -- perfect for lightweight athletes.
For athletes who fall between the junior and adult skis, Dynastar makes a very popular “tweener” slalom ski in the 150cm size. The Speed Omeglass WC Tweener SL features a similar construction and race plate to the adult ski, but comes with a slightly softer flex to accommodate smaller, less powerful athletes. We find great success with this ski for U14, U16 and female Masters racers, or anyone who wants a quick turning race stock slalom ski with a softer flex.
On the adult side of things, Dynastar is back with the Speed Omeglass WC FIS SL and the Speed Course WC GS, in both FIS and non FIS versions. Dynastar’s adult slalom ski comes in 157cm and 165cm models. We recommend 157cm for women and the 165cm for men.
Dynastar’s FIS GS ski comes in 188cm and 193cm models, both of which have a greater than 30 meter turning radius, making them legal for FIS competition. The Dynastar non FIS GS ski comes in sizes 165cm, 170cm, 175cm, and 182cm. These skis feature a less than 30 meter turning radius, making them legal for USSA competition at all levels.
