Volkl skis are known for their construction and superior edge hold, and those same properties make Volkl’s race skis shine. New for 2021, Volkl has a new construction and race plate for their junior skis, and an updated graphic that harkens back to the company’s roots.

The biggest changes for 2021 come with Volkl’s junior race skis, which feature a new construction and race plate. For 2021, Volkl has tightened the radius on the Volkl Racetiger SL R Junior Slalom ski, bringing it more in line with junior slalom skis from other brands. For GS, the Volkl Racetiger GS R Junior Giant Slalom ski features an early rise tip, which helps junior racers engage the turn more easily. Both the junior slalom and giant slalom skis feature Volkl’s new “floating” race plate, which is designed to reduce dead spots and help the entire ski flex more naturally.

For the adult skis, Volkl is back with the Racetiger SL R slalom ski. This ski comes in two versions. The World Cup version is available in the 157cm and 165cm size, both of which are FIS legal. We recommend the 157cm for female racers, and the 165cm for male athletes. Volkl also makes a Racetiger SL R slalom ski in the 155cm size, which is slightly softer than the 157cm and 165cm. This 155cm ski is ideal for younger, developing athletes who have outgrown the junior slalom race ski but are not yet ready for the full-blown FIS ski.

For giant slalom, Volkl has both FIS and non FIS versions. The Volkl Racetiger GS R WC FIS giant slalom ski comes in 188cm and 193cm. Both of these versions feature a radius of greater than 30 meters, making them legal for FIS competition. The Volkl Racetiger GS R Non FIS giant slalom ski is available in 174cm, 178cm, and 183cm. The non FIS version has a less than 30 meter radius and is legal for USSA competition.

All of Volkl's adult race skis feature Volkl’s patented UVO technology, which helps to dampen vibrations throughout the turn.
