Level 1 options give lightweight coverage for everyday training and lower-speed disciplines, while Level 2 protectors, including the POC VPD Air Vest and Sweet Protection Back Protector 2.0, deliver higher impact absorption for GS, Super G, and downhill.
Junior racers moving from recreational skiing into gates should start with a properly sized vest-style protector worn underneath the race suit, never built into it. Prices in this collection generally run from about $130 to $200, depending on brand, size, and certification level.
